Refugium Panorama

2005-11-10 21:06:00

This panorama shows the private garden of the abbey St. Bonifaz in the heart of munich. On the left you can see the basilica. On the construction site in the background a series of new hotels are being built. Normally this garden is closed for public access. But today our little girl participated in the traditional St. Martin's procession, proudly carring her lantern. You can see the light's of the lanterns at the edge of the garden. Is this St. Martin's day celebrated in other countries too?

Again I created the panorama with autostitch.
Below you can see the interactive version. If you click on the image below you can pan it by moving your mouse around. If you click again the panorama will pan automatically. Please let me know if something doesn't work. Have fun.

  • It is fun - especially for the kids - they love carring their paper lanterns. The story goes that St. Martin was a roman soldier who one night came upon a poor guy beside the road. The beggar asked Martin for help. And St. Martin, who didn't have anything else, cut his cape in half, and gave one of the halfes to the beggar. How the lantern's fit into the story I don't know.
